Notice is hereby given that the City of Ilwaco will be applying Aquatic Plant and Algae Management chemicals to Black Lake the beginning October 27, 2025 and ending October 31, 2025.  The application of the chemical Diquat Dibromide has the following restrictions:

Ecology recomends no contact recreation, i.e. wading, swimming, boating for 24 hours following treatment due to possible eye irritation.

Ecology also recomends drinking water after 3 days, irrigation after 5 days, and domesitc animal watering after 1 day.

This treatment will occur AFTER the Black Lake Witches Paddle and will not effect the event, although required pre-treatment date signage will be posted around the lake.

This herbicide treatment is regulated under a permit issued by the Washington State Department of Ecology, permit number WAG994209.

The targeted plants are Eurasian Watermilfoil and Brazilian Elodea.
